November 3
In an effort to create a convenient means of open communication I have created this blog. I hope you will comment on issues important to you. There are times when we need to openly share (and even vent from time to time). This is a closed blog where we can respectfully share, agree, and disagree within our own learning community. I greatly value each of your opinions and look forward to hearing from you.

I recently found a wonderful website that i've begun to use and share with parents in my classroom. It's called spellingcity.com All you have to do is register as a teacher and then respond to the email that they send you. You can then go on and type in all your spelling lists for the entire year. Students can then go on and practice their spelling words and play fun games with them from home. The site even gives the child a spelling test orally and says the word in a sentence. When the kids then log on they just click on the 'student' tab, and scroll down to find my list, and type your last name. And there are your lists. It's actually really easy. Hint: if you decide to enter your words, do it as a batch entry with commas instead of doing it all line by line. It's much much quicker that way! I entered seven weeks worth of words in like 5 minutes. Parents and kids love it!
